Brooke Havlik has spent over a decade helping organizations scale their impact and tell meaningful stories on some of the most pressing environmental and human rights issues that our world faces today.

Through her consultancy business, Brooke Havlik Communications, she advises non-profits, philanthropy, and clean energy businesses. 

 
 

Brooke is experienced in pursuing policy levers, framing narrative and culture change, storytelling, thought leadership, and deploying earned and paid media tactics in order to achieve strategic communications goals. 

At Open Society Foundations, she led communications strategy for the climate, gender, and economic justice programs, and worked in dozens of countries worldwide to build vibrant and inclusive democracies that are accountable to their people.

She also served as the lead communications strategist for Open Society Justice Initiative, collaborating on complex human rights and legal campaigns in regional and international courts on issues such as press freedom, corruption, crimes against humanity, and discrimination. 

As Communications Director at WE ACT for Environmental Justice, Brooke helped build climate and environmental justice campaigns in New York City and at the federal level. She began her career in public media, producing inspiring digital content for PBS’ award-winning science documentary series, NOVA

Brooke has a graduate degree in Environmental Sociology and Science from University of Oregon. In her spare time, she coordinates Brooklyn Neighbors for Refugees, a volunteer-led sponsorship program for newly-arrived refugees in her community.

She serves on the board of Seaweed City, a non-profit using urban seaweed farming to restore marine ecosystems, clean water and promote community investment in the New York City estuary.
